A high telemark turn is a high brace turn. Start by paddling forward to pick up some speed. Place your high brace at a 45 degrees angle from your stern. Lean on your high brace for support and completely edge your boat to decrease it's waterline. Quickly pull the kayak around the high brace, use your lower body to help. As your momentum slows slide your high brace forward, for continued support, to a 90-degree angle with the kayak. High brace up to the upright position.
Tip: Practice this to increase comfort and commitment to the water. Do not over extend yourself or compromise vulnerable joints.
