Paddleboy Molly

Upside: A small and easy way to get your boat to the water.
Downside: Why not haul it yourself and get some exercise?
Rating:^^^^ (4 out of 5 peaks)
Ideal User:Any paddler will like the Molly or another Paddleboy product, but those with bad backs or weak arms (I happen to possess both) will love it!.

This is one of those gear items that seems so simple that you could build it yourself after a quick trip to the hardware store. But Paddleboy's Molly (and their other boat hauling products) has a good price and simple quality construction (plastic body and stainless steel axle)--plus, she keeps me out on the water and out of my workshop.

The great thing about the Molly is that it fits in practically any kayak hatch. You don't have to take it apart or anything--it's a tiny 14" x 10" x 6" and 3.5 pounds!

The other major thing I love about using the Molly (and I'm using it often these days) is that it's so easy to use. Just lift your boat up on the little V-shaped platform, attach the side-release buckle, and get rolling.

I mostly use my Molly to get to the ocean two blocks away (it rolls through and on top of sand pretty well), but I've also taken it on paddling road trips when I don't know how far away the put-in will be from my Jeep.

Paddleboy was born in 1995, when Brian Witt got tired of transporting his canoes and kayaks across a park and down to the water. Today, they're the only watercraft cart manufacturer that I know of that offers both stern and hull carts.

Along with the Molly, they offer other stern carts such as: Fat Boy (extra-wide frame and air-filled tires); Tomato (cool red wheels!); the 'original' Paddleboy Large (for most canoes) and Paddleboy Small (for most kayaks); and the POP/Cart (a budget choice that does the job fine). Their hull cart offerings currently include: Yedo (great for most canoes); Heavy Lifter (up to 400 pounds); and Wide Rider (for big boats, prams, and even sailboats). They also just started offering a nice little sit-on-top cart called the Scupper Pup.

Paddleboy's website features a nice little chart comparing the advantages and disadvantages of stern carts and hull carts. Their hull carts can generally haul more, but the stern carts are generally smaller and easier to use (and store). By the way, my Molly and the others float (I know from personal experience)!
