The Georgian Bay Kayak Club, covering Grey and Bruce Counties and located in midwestern Ontario, will celebrate their 25th anniversary in the coming year. The driving force behind club development in 1979 was David Lowe. Dave can be found at most kayak outings offering his expertise and sharing paddling stories around the campfire. His work has been much appreciated. GBKC is part of the Whitewater Ontario umbrella organizing body - the governing body for Whitewater in Ontario. It is a family oriented club with precedent given to paddler development and kayak playboating. The club plays on local waterways, surfs at Sauble Beach, and travels to rivers in Ontario, Quebec , and occasionally to the US. Initially the club focused on slalom racing, but as membership and boat design changed, the focus is now on having as much fun as possible on easy through intermediate whitewater. Also, by joining the Georgian Bay Kayak Club you are automatically a member of Whitewater Ontario.
