The Loma Prieta Paddlers is the local Sierra Club whitewater activity section for Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Most club members are whitewater kayakers, although there are also a few canoeists, rafters, inflatable kayakers, and sea kayakers. All kinds of whitewater boaters are certainly welcome, but at the moment most of the club's activities focus on whitewater kayaking.
The club's purposes are:
*To coordinate trips.
*To serve as a meeting place for boaters.
*To promote river safety.
*To improve paddling skills.
*To organize whitewater races.
*To promote river conservation.
